About the IOQM
The IOQM is the prestigious first stage of the selection process for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). It is designed to challenge the brightest young minds in India, focusing on non-routine mathematical problems that require deep logical reasoning and creativity.
It serves as the gateway to the Regional Mathematics Olympiad (RMO) and eventually the INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad).
Eligibility & Level
- Target Students: Indian citizens and OCI cardholders studying in Classes 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
- Age Limit: Typically born on or after August 1, 2005 (verify with official latest notifications).
- Registration: Handled officially via the IOQM portal; students must register well in advance of the September test date.
Exam Pattern & Structure
The IOQM is not a typical school exam. It focuses on numerical integer answers to ensure absolute mathematical precision.
Marking Scheme (100 Marks)
- 10 Questions: 2 Marks each (Foundational Olympiad logic)
- 10 Questions: 3 Marks each (Intermediate complexity)
- 10 Questions: 5 Marks each (Advanced/Subjective level difficulty)
